Penguin Dry Cleaning is a well-known dry cleaning service in St. Petersburg. They wanted an app for order tracking and delivery management, so they came to us with the idea to improve their services by adding a mobile app to their existing ecosystem: website and call center.

Development

Our research showed that native iOS and Android apps would better meet the client's goals than a cross-platform app. This decision improved performance and product quality.

We built the iOS app in Swift and the Android app in Kotlin. The admin panel uses React.js and Django.

UX/UI Design

The design incorporates Penguin's colors and logo. Layout requirements were followed according to Penguin's defined structure and vision.

App for customers and staff

The app offers standard dry cleaning services functionality. Customers can create orders in two ways:

  • by selecting items to clean;
  • by using an "empty basket" feature (cleaners register items themselves and then send the final list of services to the user for verification).

Bonus system is also available: customers earn bonuses to use on future orders.

Creating features for cleaning staff was also included in our roadmap. Admin panel allows managers to handle important processes: manage accounts and orders, track payments and deliveries.

Integrations

We made an integration with third-party delivery service to enable delivery orders directly within the app. This integration saved significant time developing a custom delivery system — instead, we leveraged an existing market solution to meet our needs.

Penguin previously used software to automate dry cleaners and laundries. We built an app that handles orders itself. Only the accounting feature needed integration, so we integrated it via API.

Results

Our project with Penguin Dry Cleaning started as an idea of a cross-platform app to efficiently process orders and evolved into a full-fledged iOS and Android app providing user-friendly solutions. The app helps customers keep clothes clean while enabling managers to streamline operations. This is not the end of our cooperation: future plans include launching a proprietary delivery service and deeper collaboration with partners.
